The Hunt: Roblox 20 was Roblox’s 20th-anniversary event. For eleven days, players walked through two decades of Roblox history, one year at a time, playing a featured game for each year. It ended on September 28, 2026, so this page is a recap of how it worked, for anyone who missed it or wants to know what their kid was doing.
Dates and times
| What | When (Pacific Time) |
|---|---|
| Hub opens for Roblox Plus subscribers | Thursday, Sept 17, 2026, 9 AM |
| Event begins for everyone | Thursday, Sept 17, 3 PM |
| Secret path begins | Saturday, Sept 19 |
| Event ends | Monday, Sept 28, 10 AM |
It ran on PC and mobile. Roblox noted that some participating games were not available in every region. The event page did not list an age requirement.
How the main quests worked
The event lived in its own hub game with portals to 20 games from Roblox’s past and present. Roblox named a few: Lumber Tycoon 2 and Jailbreak from the older years, Adopt Me! and Grow a Garden from the newer ones.
- Start in Year Zero, which Roblox described as its founding.
- Enter the portal for the next year, starting at 2006.
- Finish that game’s event quest, a task meant to represent its era.
- Go back to the hub to unlock the next year and collect an exclusive virtual item.
- Repeat through 2025.
Finishing all 20 years unlocked Year Infinity, a final area with 20 more games that Roblox picked to represent 2026 and beyond. There was also a leaderboard, but Roblox gave few details on how it ranked players.
Some players on Roblox’s developer forum reported getting stuck when an old ban in one featured game blocked them from that year’s quest. Since the years had to be done in order, one locked game could stop a full run.
The secret path and the Dominus
The secret path opened on September 19 and only to players who had finished all 20 main quests and reached Year Infinity.
- There were 20 secret quests. Every other day, five new ones opened across five featured games.
- Clues in the hub hinted where each one started, and they could be done in any order.
- Each secret quest gave an exclusive virtual item and one fragment.
- With all 20 fragments, a player could open the final puzzle in the hub.
The prize was a Dominus, which Roblox called an “ultra-rare” item. The event page said a player had to be one of the first 20 to complete the final puzzle to win it. In other words, almost everyone who joined The Hunt was never in the running for it, and that was by design.
What Roblox Plus added
Roblox Plus is Roblox’s monthly subscription. For this event it added:
- Early hub access at 9 AM PT on September 17.
- A chance to earn three exclusive virtual items.
- A classic avatar background and profile frame.
- Keeping the Classic app theme (old logo, colors and font) after the event; for everyone else it was available only during the event.
None of these were needed to play the main quests. If your child asked for Plus just for this event, the event is over, so that reason no longer applies. Our Roblox Premium guide and spending limits guide help with the subscription question.
What the rewards were and were not
Roblox described the rewards as limited-release UGC items (avatar items made by creators) and exclusive virtual items. The Hunt did not hand out Robux.
Parent note: during and after events like this, fake “Hunt rewards” and “free Dominus” offers spread through videos and chats. Roblox only gave Hunt items through the event games themselves. Anyone asking for a password or a login code to “claim” one is trying to steal the account; our account security checklist covers what to do if that happened.
