Minecraft Live aired on September 26, 2026, and Mojang used it to show a new dimension, the next game drop and a theme park. This recap lists each announcement with the dates Mojang gave. Anything without a date stays undated here too.

Short answer: the big news is the Sift, a new dimension planned for Minecraft Java and Bedrock in 2027. The show also covered the ice caves drop, Minecraft Dungeons II (out September 29), Minecraft World in London (2027) and Minecraft on Switch 2 (October 27).

The Sift: a new dimension planned for 2027

The biggest reveal was the Sift. Mojang says it is the first new dimension in over 14 years. It will join the Overworld, the Nether and the End as the game’s fourth dimension. Mojang’s recap says it is coming to Java and Bedrock “next year,” and Xbox Wire’s write-up puts that in 2027.

The Sift appears first in Minecraft Dungeons II. There, rifts across the map pull players into it, and it has areas called the Meadow and the Carapace. The broadcast showed a short look at the Sift inside regular Minecraft, along with one of the mobs that lives there. Mojang has not shared a release date, a drop name or test builds for that version yet.

The next game drop: ice caves

The first look at the fourth and final drop of 2026 was the ice caves biome. Mojang described icicles that grow on cave ceilings and ice crystals that grow on the ground and give off a soft light. It also showed a frozen zombie variant that freezes players with its hits, and some of them throw ice balls. In the show, that zombie had no name yet. The test builds released afterward call it the frostbite.

Mojang has not named the drop or dated it. Our fourth drop guide tracks what the snapshots and previews contain. Game Director Agnes Larsson also said adventure stays a main focus of Minecraft’s long-term plans.

Minecraft Dungeons II and Minecraft World

Dungeons II, the sequel to the first Minecraft Dungeons, launched three days after the show, on September 29, 2026. Its developers showed an interconnected world in place of the first game’s level-by-level missions, added jumping, and introduced an Illager High Council as the new villains. Our Minecraft Dungeons II guide covers prices, platforms and the ESRB rating.

Merlin Entertainments and Mojang gave an update on Minecraft World, a theme park area opening in 2027 at Chessington World of Adventures Resort in London. Mojang described a Minecraft World Hotel with themed rooms and a deep-sea diner, and an indoor-outdoor rollercoaster called Escape the Nether. Mojang called it the first Minecraft rollercoaster. No ticket prices or opening day were given, so book only through the resort itself when sales open.

Smaller news from the show

  • Mojang’s chief creative officer talked about a “creator platform,” meaning tools and systems that make it easier to create, manage and share Minecraft content. No dates or products were attached.
  • Sound effects packs are coming to the Minecraft Marketplace. Marketplace items cost Minecoins, which our Minecoins and Marketplace guide explains.
  • Minecraft comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27, 2026.
  • Minecraft Education turned 10.
  • The feedback site at feedback.minecraft.net got a redesign.
  • A new community challenge asks players to place 50 million straw beds and 200 million cushions, both added in the Wilderness Bound drop.

Parent note

Nothing announced at the show needs a payment today except Dungeons II, which is a separate game, and future Marketplace packs. Big shows bring a wave of “Sift early access” and “free Minecoins” videos and sites. Mojang releases test builds only through the Minecraft Launcher and the Bedrock preview, and Minecoins come only from the Marketplace or a real gift card. If a site promises either for free, it is a scam, the same trick behind fake Robux sites, as our guide to why Robux generators are scams explains. Minecraft itself is rated E10+ by the ESRB.
