Legit Ways to Get Robux: Every Real Option Compared

There is no secret Robux button. Every real Robux balance comes from one of two places: money spent with Roblox, or sales a creator earns on the platform. This page lays out every legitimate path side by side, so you (or your kid) can pick the one that fits your budget and patience.

The two ways Robux actually enter an account
Roblox’s help center puts it plainly: Robux are purchased from Roblox for real money or earned as a creator. Everything below is a variation of those two ideas.
- Paying paths: buying Robux packages, a Roblox Plus bundle with monthly Robux, or redeeming a Roblox gift card.
- Earning paths: selling game passes and items in a game you build, selling avatar items on the Marketplace, and, once you have earned enough, exchanging Robux for dollars through DevEx.
Rewards programs sit in between: you earn points by doing things, then trade the points for a gift card when one is offered.
Every legit path compared
| Path | Costs money? | How fast | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buy Robux on the website or a computer | Yes | Instant | Anyone who wants Robux now at the best package rate |
| Roblox gift card | Yes (or as a gift) | Instant after redeeming | Gifts, and kids without a card on file |
| Roblox Plus bundle (500 / 1,000 / 2,000 a month) | Yes, monthly | Every month | Regular players who also want Plus discounts |
| Microsoft Rewards | No cash, just time | Weeks of points | Patient adults; Roblox cards come and go in the catalog |
| Build a game and sell passes | Free to start | Slow, depends on players | Kids who like building and want to learn |
| Make and sell avatar items (UGC) | Upload fees plus a membership | Slow | Teens with design skills and a verified account |
| DevEx (Robux to dollars) | No | Only after 30,000 earned Robux | Established creators 13+ |
Paying paths: buy smart
If you are going to pay, where you pay matters. Roblox gives up to 25% more Robux when you buy on the website, on a computer, or with a gift card, compared with buying inside a phone or console app. In the US, the same $9.99 buys 1,000 Robux on the website versus 800 through an app store. Roblox says this is permanent pricing, not a sale.
Premium is no longer sold to new members. Its replacement, Roblox Plus, costs US$4.99 a month on its own and includes no Robux. If you want a monthly allowance, the Plus 500, Plus 1000 and Plus 2000 bundles add that many Robux each month. Our breakdown in Is Roblox Plus worth it runs the math, and the cheapest way to buy Robux compares every package.
Gift cards are the safest way for grandparents and friends to give Robux, and they also get the web bonus. See Robux gift cards in the US and Canada for where to buy and how to redeem.
Earning paths: build, design, sell
Roblox Studio is free. Anyone can build a game, publish it, and sell game passes (one-time perks like a VIP area or a speed boost). Roblox says creators generally earn 70% of the Robux players spend in their game. It is the most realistic earning path for a young player because it needs no membership and no upfront fee. Our guide to selling game passes covers pricing.
Avatar items (shirts, pants, hats, accessories) are another route, but the bar is higher: the account needs government ID verification or a linked parent account, 2-step verification, a Roblox Plus or Premium 1000/2200 membership, plus upload fees and a publishing advance in Robux. Details are in making UGC and clothing.
Finally, DevEx lets creators 13 and older swap earned Robux for real dollars once they reach 30,000 earned Robux. Purchased Robux, gift-card Robux and monthly allowances never count. Read DevEx explained before you plan around it.
Rewards programs: free, slow, unpredictable
Microsoft Rewards has, at times, offered Roblox digital cards that you can claim with points from Bing searches and activities. In April 2026 those cards disappeared from the catalog in many countries, and they have reappeared on some accounts since. There is no published restock schedule, so treat it as a bonus, not a plan. Our Microsoft Rewards guide explains what to check.
The paths that are not real
Skip anything that asks for a password, a “verification” survey, an app download, or a payment to unlock Robux. These are designed to steal accounts or personal data. Our page on why every Robux generator is a scam shows the red flags, and Roblox account security covers turning on 2-step verification.
Which path should you pick?
- Want Robux today: buy on the website or with a gift card.
- Play every week: compare a Plus bundle with one-time packages.
- Like building things: start a small game in Studio and add one game pass.
- Under 13: stick with gift cards from a parent and building in Studio, and read our parents’ guide together.
The next page walks through the earning paths step by step, from your first Studio project to your first sale.

Frequently asked questions
Can you get Robux for free?
Not in the sense most sites promise. Roblox says Robux are either bought or earned as a creator. Earning costs nothing to start, because Roblox Studio is free, but it takes real work.
What is the cheapest way to buy Robux?
Buy on the Roblox website, on a computer, or with a Roblox gift card. Roblox gives up to 25% more Robux on those channels than on app-store purchases.
Do I need a subscription to earn Robux?
Not to sell game passes inside your own game. To publish and sell avatar items on the Marketplace, Roblox requires a Roblox Plus or Premium 1000/2200 membership.
Can a kid cash out Robux for money?
The Developer Exchange (DevEx) is open to creators 13 and older who meet its requirements, including 30,000 earned Robux and a tax form on file. A parent should be involved from the start.
