Cookie Policy
Effective date: October 6, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how BlockPlayGuide (blockplayguide.com) and its partners use cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. It complements our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and device identifiers. They let a site remember settings, measure visits and show and measure ads. Some are set by us (“first-party”) and some by the services we use (“third-party”).
The cookies we use
| Category | Set by | Purpose | Can you turn it off? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | BlockPlayGuide, Cloudflare, Google consent tools | Delivering the site securely, protecting it from bots and abuse, and remembering your privacy choices | No, the site needs them to work, but you can block them in your browser |
| Analytics | Google Analytics 4, via Google Tag Manager | Counting visits and measuring which pages and features are used, including anonymous quiz answers | Yes |
| Advertising | Google Ad Manager, Google AdX and ad partners working through Google | Showing ads (including optional rewarded ads), limiting how often you see the same ad, measuring results, preventing fraud and, where allowed, personalizing ads | Yes |
Examples of cookie names include _ga for analytics and __gads, __gpi and IDE for advertising. Providers can change cookie names and lifetimes at any time; Google describes the cookies it uses at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.
Consent and your privacy choices
Where the law requires it, a consent message powered by Google’s consent management tools asks for your choices before analytics or advertising cookies are used. You can change your mind at any time with the “Privacy choices” link in the footer of every page. If you refuse advertising cookies, you will still see ads, but they won’t be personalized.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you see, block and delete cookies:
- Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies.
- Safari: Settings (or Preferences), then Privacy.
- Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security.
- Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.
On phones, look for the same options in the browser’s settings. Blocking all cookies may stop some parts of the site from working as intended, such as remembering your privacy choices.
Other ways to opt out
- Google ad settings: adssettings.google.com
- US industry opt-out: optout.aboutads.info
- Canada industry opt-out: youradchoices.ca
- Google Analytics opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
